Crackdown on blue bin contamination in Boston

Despite extensive public information campaigns, recycling rates have been tumbling across the nation. In Boston one of the biggest issues has been contamination of recycling collections by rubbish which should have been put in the green bin.

Dealing with contamination in the recycling collection costs everybody more money and impacts the environment as material cannot be recovered for recycling.

To help tenants there are a number of leaflets including what can and cannot go in a blue bin. These can be supplied in different languages and landlords can be give these to tenants at the start of their tenancy or as a reminder alongside the bin collection calendar.

Below are links to the leaflets and other information on the Council’s website but if you need printed leaflets or leaflets in another language that is not listed, please contact Jenny Moore, Environment Supervisor,  on 01205 314583 or at jenny.moore@boston.gov.uk

There are also links to the Household Waste Recycling Centre. Residents can dispose of household waste free of charge at the Centre including white goods, mattresses, and small appliances.

For landlords in other districts, please contact your own Local Authority.
